The Greendale Choir Tries Something New!
The Greendale Choir is gearing up for its end-of-the-year events. Up first is the choir’s trip to Dollywood on Saturday, May 7. The choir will be leaving from Greendale early that morning, travelling to Pigeon Forge, TN, singing in front of two judges who will score the choir based on several performance criteria, and spending the afternoon in Dollywood. That evening, they will attend an awards ceremony where their score will be revealed, then travel back home to Abingdon. What a day!
The following Thursday, May 12, the Greendale Choir will present their annual Spring Concert. Mr. Fore is trying out a brand new “experiment” this spring. Several members of the Greendale faculty, along with a number of choir parents, will be joining the Greendale Choir on stage for a special combined performance that evening. Rehearsals with the new Parent/Teacher Choir have already begun, and Mr. Fore is excited to bring such an enthusiastic and talented group of teachers and parents together with the Greendale Choir!
The Parent/Teacher Choir is but a small part of the Greendale Choir’s Spring Concert. The choir will also showcase the two pieces they took to competition in Dollywood as well as several other songs the students have been working hard on since January. In addition, the choir will help dedicate our new-to-us baby grand piano, graciously donated by Greendale’s very own Carey Gilbert. It is sure to be a night of wonderful music making!
Mr. Fore would like to sincerely thank all the parents and teachers who have volunteered for his “experiment.” He is also extremely proud of the hard work each member of the Greendale Choir has put into preparing their spring events. Everyone is invited to attend the Greendale Choir’s Spring Concert on Thursday, May 12, at 7:00 PM in the Forum at Greendale.

The Greendale Choir Grows
The Greendale Choir has hit the ground running—welcoming new faces and learning new music for the spring semester. The “snowpocalypse” may have set us back a few rehearsals, but the choir is ready to work on our new pieces for the spring. With twenty new students joining after Christmas, the Greendale Choir now stands at 73 members—the largest choir ever at Greendale! To help run such a large ensemble, Mr. Fore has added two new section leader positions, raising the total number of section leaders from four to six. The choir held new elections during their first rehearsal of the new semester, and elected Ali B., Baleigh B., Erika H., Skyla K., Breana R., and Abigail R. as section leaders for the Third Nine Weeks. Mr. Fore would like to extend a huge thank you to outgoing section leader Emilee D. for her hard work as an Alto section leader for the Second Nine Weeks. Mr. Fore is honored to also welcome our new accompanist, Mr. James Spirup. Mr. Spirup is currently the accompanist for the choirs at Abingdon High School, and brings to Greendale a wealth of experience as a choral accompanist and musician. Mr. Fore is excited for the choir’s growth this semester, and looks forward to working toward our spring performances.

The Greendale Choir Wins Big
The Greendale Choir, under the direction of Mr. Bradley A. Fore, traveled to Pigeon Forge, TN for their second annual participation in the Music in the Parks choral festival and adjudication on Saturday, May 9. The fifty-member choir arrived at Greendale early that morning, excited to begin their trip. Despite a bit of traffic on the interstate, the choir arrived on schedule for their performance. After they took the stage, the choir stopped for lunch, then headed on to Dollywood to spend a hot-yet-enjoyable afternoon in the park. At the Awards Ceremony that evening, the choir learned they had earned a SUPERIOR rating (the highest awarded)—placing them first in their elementary division. In a surprise upset, the Greendale Choir also clenched the ELEMENTARY OVER-ALL trophy, out-performing two other elementary schools for the title! Mr. Fore is extremely proud of the hard work each member of the Greendale Choir put into their performance, and also would like to extend a special thank you to all the chaperones who accompanied the Choir on the trip. If you would like to hear the Greendale Choir perform the pieces that earned them a SUPERIOR rating (and many more), come to their Spring Concert at Greendale Elementary on Thursday, May 21st at 7:00 PM. Admission is Free!
