Choir Parent Meeting - Tuesday, August 29, 2017
Events
-I’ll be sending all this information home in a letter, and I’ll post it to the website, so I won’t spend too much time here on these—just give you a brief run-down
-AHS Benefit Concert – Tuesday, September 26th
-Abingdon Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony – Friday, December 1st
-Choir Winter Concert – Thursday, December 14th
-Nursing Home Tour – Monday, December 18th
-SpringFest – Saturday in April (not Easter weekend)
-Spring Concert – Thursday, May 10th
-Dollywood – Saturday, May 12th
Long Term Goals
-increase accompanist payment ($300 annually)
-piano upgrades
-mobile stand (~$300 one time)
-refurbish action (~$500 one time)
-refinish exterior ($?)
-purchase durable choir folders (~$1000 one time)
-purchase Suzuki Tone Bells for music room ($1000 one time)
-choir could use them, as well – they’re like handbells
-new risers (~$5000 – $7000 one time)
Fundraising
December – Greendale Buddies Christmas Bazaar Hotdogs – made $615 last year
-will need parent help this year to secure food donations, cook chili, run the booth, etc.
November – Pancake Breakfast
-Saturday morning at Greendale
-sell tickets in advance
-choir students to “wait” tables
January – Krispy Kreme Donuts
-mixed success in the past:
-13/14 – $1,564.15 -14/15–$2,153.25 -15/16–$1,897.56 -16/17–$1,213 (Oct)
-moving back to January – will need parent help to pre-sell donuts outside the local community
February – Valentine Candy Grams – made $521.11 last year
-will need help once the Candy Grams are sold – labeling cards and putting them together
March – Item Raffle
-need help securing a donation of a semi-big-ticket item (technology, perhaps?)
-sell tickets for a chance at the drawing
April – Dinner and a Show – folded into the Greendale Talent Show (choir ends the show with a couple of songs)
-will need help preparing the food, selling tickets, serving guests
May – Chick-fil-a Field Day – pre-sell sandwich meals for students, teachers, and volunteers for Field Day
-will need help getting the word out and distributing sandwiches on Field Day
-This is an ambitious list. But I think if we work together, we can raise the funds we need to reach the choir’s goals
-To that end, I have a sign-up sheet here for you to put your name down if you’d be willing to help with the choir’s goals this year. I’d like to form a committee of choir parents to help facilitate parent involvement, fundraising, and everything that goes with it. Any questions?
